The blog of the little Pinoy
Isboy here had just finished five minutes of shadow boxing and three rounds in the mitts when he learned that the Amateur Boxing Association of Thailand (ABAT… which means aswang in Bisaya, hehehe) is firm on its stand to disqualify the Philippines from participating in the Asian Olympic qualifying round later this month.
Isboy grabs the newspaper, wipes his sipon, err, sweat and goes to the corner bangkito to read on:
The International Boxing Association has “insisted” that Thailand allow the participation of Filipino and other boxers and strongly protested the Thai boxing council’s action of not sending invitations to other countries. “Iraq’s delegation has yet to receive its invitation,” Iraqi Boxing Federation president Bashar M. Othman said, claiming they too are being singled out.
Isboy thinks this is a sort of a “Thai Revenge” by the ABAT, who was accused by Filpino boxers of biased officiating during the South East Asian Games. Now ABAT is throwing the towel on the Filipino boxers because of failure to submit names on deadline.
But how can the Philippines submit the boxers’ name when it has not received an invitation from ABAT and was not informed on the deadline of submission?
Isboy goes to the punching bag. Pins the news item on the bag and began punching. Take it easy Isboy, take it easy.
Yes. Hehehe. Vincent Bueno is my distant relative. I don’t know if he knows it buy Isboy here is very proud of Vincent after he triumphed in his bid to become the grand winner of the “Musical! Die Show” in Austria.
A full-blooded Filipino born in Vienna to Pinoy parents, Bueno shouted “Philippines! Philippines!” after he was declared the winner of “Musical! Die Show” (Musical! The Show), an Austrian singing competition with all the pizazz and campy glamour of “American Idol” but much tougher: instead of simply singing pop tunes, contestants are required to choose from Broadway musical theater repertoire, and give a performance that involves singing, dancing, acting and theatrical effects.
“Musical! Die Show” is aired over the Austrian national broadcaster ORF.
Here is a video of Vincent Bueno. Mabuhay ka kadugo!
Isboy here. Blogging from somewhere in the sea waters of the Visayas. In few hours, I will be in Cebu to witness the Sinulog Festival this next Sunday (January 20) and of course to pay a visit to the image of miraculous Sto. Niño de Cebu (and pray hard so I could finally see my family, I’m a palaboy, remember? And it’s not a choice I made).
I have with me an instamatic camera I found in one of the bins in a posh subdivision in Makati and I will take pictures during the Sinulog to share with you. Just bought a P2-battery from my friendly korean store in Divi. It has a lifetime warranty according to the owner so I thought these 2 batteries are a bargain.
The Sinulog festival is held every third Sunday of January and I always make it a panata to be in Cebu to celebrate the feast of the holy child. It may take away my year’s earnings, but I really don’t mind as long as the bearded man above continues to shower me with good health.
See you in Cebu then and expect some pictures that I will post here.
Pit Señor!
Isboy, the ultimate pinoy palaboy, was mouth-wide-open with matching tulo laway while watching last Friday’s episode of Lastikman when a teaser about a new teleserye popped out during a commercial break.
Isboy was sure it was the every pretty new mom Claudine Barretto carrying a child with a snake coming out from nowhere.
What’s this teleserye that topbills Claudine?
Isboy guessed it is ‘Maligno‘, a revival of one of the horrific films starred by Susan Roces
‘Maligno’ is now being produced as a teleserye topbilled by the comebacking Claudine Barretto, together with Diether Ocampo and John Estrada.
’Maligno’ is part of ‘The Susan Roces Cinema Collection’ presented under the banner of Channel 2’s Sineserye Presents. There are many more outstanding films that Susan made in her long career as an actress and movie queen that can form part of this drama suite. It seems, however, that, ABS-CBN is more focused on the horrific ones, like the ongoing ‘Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara’ and the soon to be shown ‘Gumising Ka, Maruja.’
Isboy is doing his chores early so he won’t miss his primetime viewing thru a neighbor’s television. (Yes, Isboy is a palaboy without a TV set, sigh).
