Two years after ABS-CBN’s production of Mano A Mano: Pacquiao vs. Lariosbecame one of the country’s highest-rated sports events ever, ABS-CBN yet again brings world-class boxing back to the Philippines with the sports special Invasion: Philippines vs. the World, this Sunday, April 6 at 9 AM.
Produced by Golden Boy Promotions and ALA Promotions, in conjunction with ABS-CBN Sports, this boxing spectacle will be aired, nationwide and over TFC Global, as it happens at the Araneta Coliseum.
And Invasion is fast shaping up to rock the Araneta just like “Thrilla in Manila.” This time, it’s Filipino champ Gerry Peñalosa who’s defending his hotly-contested WBO Bantamweight Title in a 12-round fight versus Thai fighter Ratanchai Sor Vorapin.
This is a re-match not just for the title but also for lost pride as the Thai fighter lost via 6th round knockout to Penalosa in 2000. Five years later, Vorapin was the world bantamweight champion before losing his title to Mexico’s Jhonny Gonzalez. Read the rest of this entry »

GMA Films has turned down Gabby Concepcion’s offer to return P1.75 million that was the downpayment when the actor signed a contract with GMA September last year.
Gabby’s camp said the actor expressed interest to return the money to GMA Films anytime considering that Gabby has signed another contract with ABS-CBN last April 1.
“It’s not just a signed contract, we fulfilled part of the obligation and we gave him down payment. Actually, the provision of our contract said that it’s for one movie. But we also have exclusive rights to the second movie if we serve it a notice within three months after the termination of the first movie,” said GMA Films President Annette Gozon-Abrogar.
Abrogar said they were not worried with Gabby’s signing of contract with ABS-CBN but warned the actor “he cannot start working on a movie until matapos nya ang contract nya sa atin”.
