A lot laughed out loud. Many were outraged. Others despise her for her lack of brains. But who are we really to judge Binibining Pilipinas World Janina Miller San Miguel? Do we simply judge the person by her ability (or the lack of it) to speak the right English?

In a country dominated by call center agents, we can’t blame the coños for expressing their disgust on Janina’s English speaking skills. But with the same country of people deprived of the highest quality of education (even with the billions of pesos rolled out yearly as budget for the Department of Education), who are we to call her ‘bobo’?

There might be good English speakers out there, masters of the second language and gurus of grammar, diction, and pronunciation. Ok fine. But if you go visit a government-subsidized college, a town high school, or couple of elementary schools around the country, it won’t be a surprised if most students speak like Janina Miller San Miguel. Filipino-American Ramiele Malubay is making the country proud as she made it to the final 12 contestatns of the topr-ated TV talent show “American Idol”.

The show narrowed its list of contestants to 12 , sending home sassy 18-year-old Danny Noriega and retaining former male stripper David Hernandez. Ramiele Malubay remains in the fight for the next American Idol

The 12 finalists in alphabetical order are: David Archuleta, 17, Jason Castro, 20, David Cook, 25, Kristy Lee Cook, 24, Chikezie Eze, 22, David Hernandez, 24, Michael Johns, 29, Ramiele Malubay, 20, Syesha Mercado, 21, Amanda Overmyer, 23, Carly Smithson, 24, Brooke White, 24.

Not only is Gretchen Barreto sexy and ever beautiful, she can also sing. Definitely. And she proved her singing prowess in the music video of her album “Please Don’t Ask Me”. Gretchen gave justice to the original song with her own version.  One can feel so much passion, so much emotion in the way gretchen sings “… please don’t ask me why I’m so in love with you”.

With tears all over her face, Gretchen gave all her best in the music video shot with equally handsome Zanjoe Marudo. I just can’t wait to get a copy of the music video myself to see how Gretchen fared in other songs.

There are talks around the showbiz industry that the role of the Pinoy Betty La Fea will finally go to the ever beautiful and charming Bea Alonzo. The report, however, is still unconfirmed and Bea said she has not received official offer to do the teleserye.

Bea said she will be very happy to accept the offer as she stressed that she got excited even at the unconfirmed report of her being considered to do the Philippine version of the popular Betty La Fea.

Several movie personalities have expressed interest to do the lead role in Betty La Fea and the most vocal of them all is Asia’s songbird Regine Velasquez. Pero parang naunsyami because there is no offer for Regine to do the teleserye.     Read the rest of this entry »
